THE BENEFITS OF EYELINER TATTOOS
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
ARE EYELINER TATTOOS PAINFUL?
Discomfort levels may vary depending on each individual's pain threshold and sensitivity. To ensure your utmost comfort during the procedure, a topical anesthetic will be applied before and throughout your treatment. Please note that if you're on your menstrual cycle, you may experience heightened sensitivity. Additionally, factors such as lack of sleep, stress, and caffeine intake can influence pain sensitivity.
HOW LONG DO RESULTS LAST?
Semi-permanent pigments gradually fade over time. The lifespan of the implanted pigment can be affected by factors such as sun exposure, skin type, overall health, and both immediate and long-term aftercare. Typically, results last between 2 to 5 years, or even longer, before a touch-up is needed to maintain the color and shape. However, individuals who smoke regularly or have iron deficiency anemia may notice faster fading. Please note that results can vary from person to person.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:
WHAT WILL THE FINAL RESULTS LOOK LIKE?
Whether you prefer a bold or soft look, the eyeliner pigment will initially appear darker and warmer, with a sharper outline right after the procedure. As it heals over the following weeks, the color will soften and blend for a more natural finish, creating the desired effect based on your preferences.
WHAT IS THE TATTOO HEALING PROCESS?
Typically, no time off work is required for healing, as any mild redness and swelling immediately after the procedure will subside within 24 hours. The healing process for the top layers of skin takes about 10 to 14 days. Right after the procedure, the pigment will appear darker and warmer but will soften and shrink slightly as it heals over the following weeks. Between 4 to 6 weeks, the area and deeper skin layers will be fully healed, revealing the true shape and color. Some minor patchiness may occur between your first and second appointments, which is why a touch-up or "perfecting" session is scheduled 4 to 6 weeks after the initial treatment.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING THE EYELINER PROCEDURE?
You'll begin with a thorough consultation where we’ll discuss your expectations and desires to ensure we’re on the same page before the procedure. In most cases, the procedure can be performed the same day as the consultation, as long as there are no contraindications. I’ll make sure we have plenty of time to complete paperwork, take before and after photos, apply topical numbing; which takes about 20-30 minutes, perform the procedure, and review aftercare instructions with you. Rest assured, your eyes will be closed during the procedure, so there’s no need to worry about damage to your eyes themselves or seeing the device or needle.
HOW DO I PREPARE FOR EYELINER PROCEDURE?
WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER THE EYELINER PROCEDURE?
Proper aftercare is essential for optimal healing and results. During the first 7–10 days, your eyelids may experience scabbing and flaking—avoid picking, scratching, or exfoliating the area to protect the healing process. It’s also important to avoid excessive sun exposure, water, perspiration, skincare products, makeup, and exfoliation in the treated area to prevent disrupting the pigment or healing. On the day of your appointment, you’ll receive detailed aftercare instructions along with an aftercare kit containing a specially formulated cleanser and healing ointment to support the health and longevity of your new eyeliner.
WHAT PIGMENTS & TOOLS DO YOU USE?
I use a combination of organic and synthetic pigments that are safe for the skin. These high-performance pigments are rigorously tested for harmful dyes, heavy metals, and microbiological sterility to ensure safety and stability. All pigments used are approved by Health Canada. For your peace of mind, I only use sterile, single-use needles, which are opened in front of you. Additionally, my studio is inspected and approved by Alberta Health Services, meeting the highest standards of cleanliness and safety.
