SKIN REVISION
I understand how skin "irregularities" like stretch-marks can make you feel self-conscious--even though we all have them, and how feeling confident in your body and skin can impact your life. I believe confidence is for everyone!
Stretch-marks are striations in the skin typically caused by weight gain from transitions like adolescence, pregnancy, and body-building. Stretch-mark revision can be done on any area and any skin tone, whether your stretch-marks are darker or lighter than your regular skin tone. If you have a lot, or just a little, I will work with you to ensure the best results in a compassionate and confidential environment.
Inkless Stretch-mark Revision (ISR) is a needling procedure infusing a mix of vitamins and serums into the skin to reduce the appearance of stretch-marks. It activates the production of collagen, elastin, and melanocytes, improving the texture, depth and the color contrast of stretch-marks, helping them blend in more with the surrounding skin.
HIGHLIGHTS OF ISR
INKLESS STRETCH-MARK REVISION vs LASER TREATMENTS
As a non-ablative, non-thermal treatment, ISR does not remove or burn the top layer of the skin. ISR stimulates the body's natural collagen, elastin, and melanocyte production, therefore, it will help restore and normalize pigmentation in the skin, whereas lasers will not. ISR treatments tend to cost much less than laser treatments.
INKLESS STRETCH-MARK REVISION vs INK CAMOUFLAGE
Stretch-mark camouflage attempts to match ink to your skin tone to blend the appearance of the stretch marks with surrounding unaffected skin. Ink-based camouflage can be problematic in that it may change color over time and your skin tone may change with light exposure, ie. tanning. With ISR, there is no ink used. Through healing from the procedure and over time, the skin will regain its own natural pigmentation, blending seamlessly on its own.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE?
Pain varies on the individual, the area treated, and other contributing factors such as menstrual cycle, sleep deprivation, stress levels, caffeine intake, etc. A topical numbing cream is used before and/or during the treatment to minimize any discomfort.
HOW LONG DOES THE PROCEDURE TAKE?
The length of the treatment depends on the condition and size of the area being treated. On average the procedure can vary from 1/2 hour to 2 hours.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
The number of sessions required will depend on the size and depth of the stretch-marks and on the client's expectations. Typically, it will take between one to four sessions to achieve desired results. Collagen levels peak at about 14-days post treatment and continue for weeks following. Sessions are booked 6 - 8 weeks apart to allow the deeper layers of the skin, time to heal in between.
WHAT WILL I LOOK LIKE AFTER THE PROCEDURE?
ISR has little to no downtime; most people return to work following the procedure. Skin redness and swelling are expected immediately following the treatment. Swelling will subside within 24-hours; redness can persist for several days. Your skin may feel dry, tight, itchy and/or sensitive in the 7 - 21 days following, depending on the location of the area treated and how aggressive the treatment was performed. Products to hydrate and nourish the skin will be offered following your procedure.
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY PROCEDURE?
CAN ALL SCARS BE TREATED?
Scars must be fully healed and either flesh-colored or lighter than the surrounding skin in order to receive treatment. Any stretch-marks/scars that are dark red or purple, raised/keloid or less than 9-months old cannot be treated. ISR is suitable for all skin types and can be used to treat stretch-marks on various parts of the body, including the stomach, thighs, arms, and hips.
WHAT RESULTS CAN I EXPECT & HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?
ISR is designed to improve the appearance of your stretch-marks. While it cannot completely eliminate their appearance, most people can expect to see a 30 - 90% reduction in the severity of their stretch-marks. ISR provides permanent results, however this can be affected if the skin undergoes further stretching via weight gain or injury to the area. The longevity of the results is also dependent on factors such as age, lifestyle, diet, and UV exposure.
